GOOD Friday was marked in the traditional way in Daventry with the annual Walk of Witness.
Churches Together in Daventry organised the event which saw around 100 people headed out from Holy Cross church led by Christian Bikers carrying a wooden cross. They made their way down High Street and up Sheaf Street, handing out nails, palm crosses and lollipops as well as stopping for readings and prayers.
The Rev Jay Phelps, from the United Reformed Church, led this year’s walk. He said: “We are showing that we follow Jesus as his disciples did.
“But like Jesus’ disciples, who mucked it up a bit at the time, we are all equally capable of messing things up.
“Good Friday is about sin being forgotten – sin is not just bad acts, but anything that separates us from good. The lollipops remind us of God’s sweetness, but the nails and the palm crosses remind us of the payment we have to make for it.”

Several of us are MAG members, and as a branch we are a similar age to the Towcester MAG Group, and often meet with them and work at events with them - good bunch of people and a top biker group - see the link elsewhere.
